WEDNESDAY - CHANGE

half-way through our workweek here in waveland, ms, wednesday is a day that i have been looking forward to because of the special things that we'll do today.

first, we have begun a 7am prayer meeting for anyone who would like to start the day in prayer. we're about 10 minutes away right now and it looks like we should have a good number of students lifting their day to God.

second, lunch today will be an authentic cajun gumbo at one of the homes. a local chef who had his home destroyed by the storm and rebuilt by the christian life center has agreed to cook his famous (literally) seafood gumbo. every group will kick out of their morning job at the regular time and meet at his house to eat outside in his yard.

third, this evening we are headed to the beach - the gulf of mexico where katrina made landfall is literally less than 2 miles from our home here in waveland. we're taking swimsuits, volleyballs, footballs, burgers... it should be good. if you want to imagine what it looks like, picture warm water as far as the eye can see, waves gently rolling in, incredibly fine sand that never gets hot, and posts aimlessly sticking into the air where 400 foot piers used to stand that were destroyed by the hurricane.
